Your worst fear is looking into the mirror,
your reflection is no longer beautiful to you.
Giving-in to the standards of this world,
becomes your main goal.
Your self-esteem is what it stole.
So you find self-destructive solutions,
to cure your broken heart,
your broken spirit,
because being with yourself makes you sick,
because you’re not fit.
You’re not ”good” enough to sit with them,
or even say hi to,
since they’re deemed as worthy
and you’re labeled as ”nobody.”
But you know better,
yet you dream of being her.
She, who to you,is free from flaws,
if only you can give away all that is yours.
You wish that he can be your one and only,
but he has never looked in your direction.
So you do whatever it takes,
to capture his attention.
Even if it ends,
in a fatal attraction, but hey,
you need some type of satisfaction.
You’re told you are worthless,
which becomes your anthem.
If only you can be like them,
you begin to think,
that your life is nothing
and that it has no true definition,
so your mission,
is to go along with the current.
Pushing aside your purpose
because it becomes too much.
Only because you’re too afraid to trust.
To afraid to venture into the unknown,
only because the situations aren’t known.
Because you feel secure with the familiar places,
and the faces that are just with you,
but not for you.
But you don’t have a clue.
You become submissive to denial
because of course nothing can ever be wrong with what you do.
If only this was true.
You become trapped with your newly constructed prison,
with bolted doors that were skilfully devised,
no one can enter,
even if he tries.
It seems as though everything you try,
results in failure.
Everyone you let into your life,
makes their way in with a lie.
You keep falling,
with a fear to rise again.
Just the thought of meeting the dust once more and opening your heart’s door,
is too much to bear,
so you keep safe and secure,
at the shore.

Brown, bright and piercing,
revealing stories, giving hints.
Your eyes attention,
I had begun to win.
Strangers in the beginning,
sitting side by side with occasional glances.
To conversations of substance
and wisdom, it advances.
Pretending I didn’t see you staring,
I kept looking ahead.
Maybe it was all in my head,
or maybe it’s something else.
You’re one of the few diamonds found among the rough,
calling out the best within me.
Not my weaknesses,
qualities some may not see.
Using your words to uplift,
rather than creating destruction.
Such a beautiful,radiating spirit,
and a gentleman.
I wish this time period had only begun,
getting to know more about you I may not have the opportunity to.
The days were limited,
to only a few.
If we’re only given a season,
then I trust that God has our best interest.
And your presence,
I will surely miss.
My pen says it all,
but I wish the reception was better,
allowing it to all show.
These things,
you may never know.
